Dr. Goldstein has been selected by SJ Magazine as a "Top Doc" for the year 2008.

Dr. Goldstein is proud to be able to offer his patients the option of using minimally invasive techniques to address many surgical problems. These include: Hernias of all types, ranging from hiatal to inguinal to ventral/incisional; Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD); Gallbladder disease; Appendicitis; Splenic disorders; Diseases of the Stomach; Achalasia; Colon disease; Small intestinal disorders, and many more. Minimally invasive surgery allows for shorter postoperative hospitalization and recovery time, as well as less immunological stress on the human body, less postoperative pain, and less risk of wound infection and delayed incisional hernia.

Dr. Goldstein is also proud to offer the LAP-BAND® System for weight loss, an innovative, safe, and effective surgical intervention for obese adult patients who have repeatedly failed more conservative weight reduction alternatives such as supervised diet, drugs, exercise, and behavior-modification programs. The LAP-BAND System creates an earlier feeling of fullness and limits food consumption, resulting in nutritionally sound and lasting weight loss. The LAP-BAND System is an adjustable band that is placed around the upper portion of the stomach to restrict the amount of food that can be consumed and to create a longer feeling of satiety.

The LAP-BAND is placed laparoscopically without cutting or stapling of the stomach or gastrointestinal re-routing to bypass normal digestion. The procedure is safer and less invasive than other obesity surgeries and can afford the same degree of weight loss. It is also the only adjustable and reversible option for patients. To date over 300,000 patients worldwide have undergone the LAP-BAND System procedure. Dr. Goldstein has personally performed over 250 Lap Band operations to date and is the most experienced LAP-BAND surgeon in both Camden and Burlington counties of New Jersey.

The procedure is being offered as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to the evaluation and management of bariatric patients, in cooperation with the New Beginnings weight loss program at Virtua Health, a comprehensive program that includes medical, psychological, nutritional, physiological, and emotional support for patients that have undergone the LAP-BAND operation.

Free informational lectures will be offered for patients interested in learning more about the procedure.

If you have questions, know patients who may be candidates for the LAP-BAND System, or would like the dates and locations of upcoming informational lectures, contact Regional Surgical Associates.
